In the design department, we like to keep an eye on new industry-leading designs. This month only one development comes to mind, Threads. Achieving over 1 million users in half an hour, Threads has smashed the record books, while this success might just be a fad, it does indicate to those of us in design the direction of the industry.
Threads takes to heart the phrase, less is more. Launching in what Meta are calling an incomplete state it has cut Twitter back to its bare bones.
In our own work, we’ve been pushing towards less is more. Fewer tabs for customers to click into. Streamlined workflows. More subdued colours.
Just like how we all grew up and stopped using PowerPoint animations. Apps, software and web design have grown up as well. Less is the future.
