Who are Shoothill?

We are custom software engineers with a focus on business intelligence. Founded in 2006 by Rod Plummer and Erik Nodland, Shoothill started out with live mapping tools, but rapidly diversified and are currently equipped to tackle any digital challenge for any audience, corporate, commercial, and consumer alike.

In our history we’ve won awards and broken records as software pioneers, offering digital transformation, web & app development, smart automation, data manipulation and third party integrations. Shoothill maintain a glowing reputation, with a track record of satisfied SME and blue chip company clients.

Shoothill launches systems for Base Architects and Darwin Group

Two of our most ambitious projects to date. These systems launched in Q2 2023, successfully digitally transforming these enterprises.

Housebuilder Pro manages over £1.5 billion of property

Housebuilder Pro’s customers have more than £1.5 billion worth of property managed by the innovative system in the UK.

Shoothill release ‘A Life In Pictures’, a digital mosaic of The Queen

Featuring over 1 million images of The Queen this digital mosaic marked 70 years on the throne.

Named Runner-Up at the British Data Awards alongside Openreach

In a highly competitive year at Predatech’s British Data Awards, Shoothill were named Runner-Up.

PPE Exchange supporting front line workers during Covid-19 pandemic

Launched free portal to connect suppliers and buyers of Personal Protective Equipment throughout crisis.

Launched subsidiary brand Housebuilder Pro for new home builders

Leveraged data from National Flood Insurance to raise awareness of flood risk across America

Developed a customer portal managing and displaying billing data and weather reporting.

Commissioned to develop a system providing communities in Australia with dam and river height data.

Contract signed with Water Plus to provide commercial FloodAlerts

Under the brand Water Plus Protect, provide commercial flooding data to multinational retailers.

Public sector mapping project for West Midlands Fire Service

Visualise masses of attendance, accident and socio-economic data as part of their Community Safety Strategy

Created the OPAL Nature Explorer app for Imperial College London

Visualised the organisation’s wealth of environmental data on an interactive map.

Shoothill launch CheckMyFloodRisk

The first flood risk assessment tool for UK consumers generated hundreds of thousands of hits in its inaugural year.

Gaugemap wins Open Data Institute award for Innovation

Shoothill’s founders were honoured with this award by Sir Tim Berners Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web

The map tracks the live position of the Torch via GPS and receives 450,000 hits on the first day!

The Guardian and Virgin Media Business’s Innovation Nation awards reward the most innovative use of technology in the UK private and public sectors.

Shoothill launch FloodAlerts.com and receives over 100,000 hits in first four hours. The system has gone on to receive a total of 28 million hits to date (2018).

Shoothill create the world’s largest Deep Zoom fan mosaic which is made up of 1 million individual images and is over 6 acres in size!

Shoothill move to their current offices at Battlefield Enterprise Park in Shrewsbury.

Backing the World Cup bid

Shoothill produce an interactive Deep Zoom of a gigantic England flag made up of 100,000 fan images projected onto the side of Manchester Town hall during a publicity event.

Shoothill creates the MP expenses map for MSN

This is Shoothill’s first experience of content going viral with over 1m worldwide hits.

Shoothill creates a live train data telemetry web system for Bombardier Trains

It achieves runner up in the Microsoft WPC Data Visualisation Partner of the Year Award.

Shoothill move to their first offices and employ first members of staff.

Rod Plummer
Executive Chairman

Rod is ex-Royal Navy, has 30 years’ experience in the Software Industry and is responsible for the company’s overall strategy. His passion for what technology can do, coupled with extensive sales & marketing experience , has driven Shoothill’s success.

Erik Nodland
Chief Technology Officer

Erik is a Cisco CCIE Emeritus engineer with 30 years’ experience in the I.T. Industry. Responsible for maintaining our high technological standards business wide, he has enabled us to compete at the forefront of digital solutions since our inception.

Simon Jeavons
Group Managing Director

Simon has over 20 years of wide-ranging commercial operations experience and applies his expert knowledge to oversee new business development, software design and project delivery within Shoothill. Simon works closely with Rod on all aspects of running Shoothill, including the Finance and HR functions.
Simon was invited to join the board of Directors in May 2020, and appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Consulting in May 2023.

Head of Design

David applies his natural eye for design, and 25 years industry experience, to leading our design team. Liaising with both customers and the internal business operations team, he is responsible for determining the look and functionality of our software.

Josh Welch
Commercial Manager

Josh joined Shoothill as an apprentice in 2016, and now provides end-to-end support across all projects with a focus on delivering customer satisfaction. Working closely with Simon he assists with new business development, managing projects, liaising with our development team and monitoring key performance metrics in order to deliver a quality service to our customers.

Liam Kelsall
UI/UX Designer

Liam joined us in September 2021 with 12 years of design-related experience. Liam studied Graphic Design at the University of Derby and graduated in 2015. Liam plays a key role in bringing our software to life and helps us work towards our long term goal of transforming our clients’ processes with digital solutions.

Josh has over 10 years experience in customer-facing roles and a knack for customer service. One of Josh’s main responsibilities is to act as a medium between Shoothill’s (and its subsidiaries) growing client bases and operations teams, ensuring that each client is getting the most out of their systems and receiving the best quality service.

Doug recently graduated from the University of Exeter with an undergraduate degree in English and a Masters in Global Literatures and Cultures. He balances different responsibilities between the marketing and operations teams supporting both Shoothill and Housebuilder Pro.
